Lirac

The village and AOC of Lirac sit on the right bank of the Rhone, directly across the river from Chateaunuef du Pape. Like its neighbours, Lirac has been known for wine production for many centuries – there are records of the Papal court enjoying wines from the area during its residence in the area during the 14th Century. Lirac produces red and rose wines from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan, and white wines from Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourbelenc.
