Gautherin et Fils

DOMAINE RAOUL GAUTHERIN & FILS

Domaine Raoul Gautherin & Fils, as it exists today, was established in the late 1950s by Raoul Gautherin, who built upon his family's winemaking tradition dating back to 1585. Adrien Gautherin, Raoul’s grandson, officially joined the family business in 2008, working alongside his father, Alain Gautherin. Together, they have elevated the estate's reputation through meticulous vineyard management and winemaking practices.

The family owns 16.5 hectares of vineyards in Chablis, with notable holdings in Premier Crus like Vaillons, Montmains, and Mont de Milieu, as well as Grand Cru climats such as Vaudésir, Les Clos, and Grenouilles. Adrien’s approach to winemaking emphasizes minimal intervention, focusing on the quality of the grapes and the expression of the terroir. His philosophy is straightforward: “To make great wine, you first need great grapes.” This commitment to quality is reflected in his use of extended lees aging and the avoidance of battonage, with minimal reliance on new oak barrels.
