Abel Mendoza 2023 5V Rioja Blanco 750ml

An intriguing blend of 35% Viura, 20% Tempranillo Blanco, 20% Torrontes, 15% Malvasia and 10% Garnacha Blanca. This is fermented in new oak barrels and then aged for a further 5 months in the same barrels on its lees. This results in a wine of extreme complexity that has a very aromatic nose and rich, round mouthfeel. Almost golden in colour, this wine exhibits notes of mint, lemon peel, lychee and peach. The wine is nicely balanced with the acidity and the oak existing in harmony. The palate is redolent with grapefruit and mandarin oak and finishes with a touch of vanilla. There is lot going on in this wine and it is worth decanting.
