Abel Mendoza 2021 Graciano Grano a Grano 750ml
[2020 vintage] The spicy, peppery and fresh 2020 Graciano Grano A Grano reflects the low pH of the grape (3.4) and the relatively high acidity (5.8 grams), even in a warm year like 2020, while keeping a moderate 13% alcohol. The hand-destemmed grapes fermented in a small 1,200-liter stainless steel vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500-liter French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and 18 months of aging. It has herbal notes, and the nose is a little shy with a somewhat reductive profile. It needs time in the glass or a decanter to slowly open up to hints of violets and freshly cracked peppercorns. The palate is medium-bodied and fine-boned, with a vibrant sensation, and sharp and austere with a dry finish. It should develop nicely in bottle.
